Candidate Bio
I am running for Village Board President because:
As the current Village Board President, I enjoy working with residents and businesses to build on our strengths as a community. We are fortunate in LaGrange to have passionate and committed residents who share their talents and perspectives with village government. Early in my tenure as Village President, we convened the LaGrange 2020 task force among our residents to create a vision and work towards implementing it. Our focus on finances, infrastructure, economic development, and safety has achieved measurable results in the community's vibrancy. The redevelopment of the YMCA property and other major developments are coming to completion as the result of the work of many in our village. Affordable and responsive village government in a changing economy will be an important focus in a second term. We were successful in designing and funding important storm water projects and finishing them is also a high priority in the coming months and years. Finally, although statistically LaGrange has a low crime rate, and we are at near full police staffing with a new consolidated dispatch center coming on line this year; we need to continually strengthen our record as a safe community.
Community Service:
Village Trustee 2003 - 2011; Village President 2013-Present; Lyons Township H.S.; Civic Federation of Chicago (former Chairman); UI Alumni Association (former Chairman); Calumet Area Industrial Commission (former Chairman); Cook County Forest Preserve Foundation (current Chairman); Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind
Professional Experience:
CSX Transportation Regional Vice President Government Affairs 2003-Present; Illinois Medical District Commission 1999-2003; Governor Jim Edgar, Office of Governor 1990-1999
La Grange Resident:
18 years, married with three children
