To be considered by CCLG for a position on the Village of La Grange, La Grange Library Board of Trustees or the Park District of La Grange Board of Commissioners, please complete the Prospective Candidate Data Sheet. Need Help? - That is why we are here...

Library, Park District, Village board candidates should e-mail their application to lgcitizenscouncil@gmail.com prior to any slating.

| Download Prospective Candidate Data Sheet.

About Slating:
Prior to an election, the CCLG interviews all prospective candidates who choose to come before our membership.  Most, if not all candidates, will opt to do so, and the interview process will be open to the public. Immediately following the interviews of all of the candidates for each Board, Council members will hold a private ballot session where we will review and deliberate and ultimately slate (endorse) those candidates we feel will best serve our Village.  The Citizens Council of La Grange will begin accepting Prospective Candidate Data Sheets early before elections.

The first step for anyone interested in being considered as a slated candidate in our process is to complete a “Prospective Candidate Data Sheet”.  The Data Sheets will ask the candidates to describe their length and breadth of time and activity in La Grange; explain their interest in the position they are seeking; describe their qualifications for the position; and submit a list of references for us to contact.  The Data Sheets will be kept confidential within the Council membership and will be available for download near the end of the summer or early fall.  They will be due approximately one week before the position’s slating session.

The information you provide on this sheet will help the Council understand each potential candidate’s qualifications.  If the elections is contested and/or there is strong community interest, the Council may hold a forum for all candidates who have filed with the Board of Elections.

Ask the Council:
Our mission: Our non-partisan, volunteer organization seeks, evaluates, and recommends candidates for the Village, Library, and Park District Boards in order to promote and maintain the best possible government for all La Grange citizens.

Our vision: To inspire La Grange residents to give their voice to the village. Meet. Slate. Run.

The citizens council embraces technology and welcomes the community voice. Please respectfully ask your village board questions here. This is a publicly visible platform that seeks to drive voter engagement but at same time is strictly moderated by our council. We ask that residents conduct themselves appropriately with politeness and respect. Please also read our Terms of Service prior to posting or starting any community conversations around issues that locally matter.
