Candidate Bio
I am running for Library Trustee because:
The vital role that the public library plays in American life is both my professional and personal passion. My 15 years at the Berwyn Public Library and my 5 plus years traveling the country to help libraries improve their services gives me a unique perspective. I bring experience and a wide view to our library board and have been proud to serve in this role for the last 16 years. After leading the committee that created our brand new 2017-20 Strategic Plan, I am excited to turn that plan into action over the next four years.
Community Service:
I am actively involved in the fundraising efforts for La Grange Hospital and Community Nurse having served on multiple years of committees for their fundraising events. I am an active volunteer for AYSO including multiple years as a volunteer coach. For the last 9 years I have volunteered at the Cossitt School library 2x a month. Although it is in Western Springs, I am on the Children’s Theater of Western Springs Advisory Board (2015-present) and provide many hours of volunteer time to this not for profit theater.
Professional Experience:
I am a librarian [MLIS] who specializes in training other library workers. I train library staff all over the world on how to match books with readers through the local public library. My 15 years serving the patrons of the Berwyn Public Library and my 5 plus years traveling all over the country seeing our libraries in action and helping them to improve their service to patrons gives me a unique perspective.
La Grange Resident:
I am married to, Eric, a local, family physician and I have two children 14 and 11 who both attend our public schools
